"La piel de la Tierra"
Maia Chozas utiliza la pintura, el arte digital, la fotografía y el collage como medios para componer una naturaleza mística que bordea los límites de lo real e ingresa al terreno de lo imaginario.
El entorno visual que la rodea en sus viajes y travesías dicta los parámetros fotográficos con los que se inician la mayoría de sus trabajos. Hay algo en las formas orgánicas que la inquieta y le incita a retratarlas mediante fotogramas y bocetos a lápiz que luego re-trabaja e interviene con su huella digital. Contornos montañosos asoman entre planos de color que, añadidos mediante capas translucidas, dejan entrever un proceso de trabajo en donde intervienen el tiempo y la distancia, distorsionados mediante el glitch y el pastiche. En una búsqueda por apropiarse de las formas sublimes, Maia genera un diálogo entre el origen natural de la imagen y la proyección de su imaginario sobre esta.
La ausencia física casi total de la figura humana en las composiciones que integran esta serie hace que predominen con insistencia entornos híbridos que circulan entre lo mágico y lo esotérico. Yuxtaposiciones de imágenes dan nuevos sentidos a lo visual y a lo perceptible, haciendo aparente la piel de la Tierra, encontrando la íntima textura de los minerales, los árboles, las hojas y las montañas. Círculos de color irrumpen el horizonte como planetas de galaxias lejanas. Profundos cañadones proyectan su sombra entre ríos serpenteantes, develando la morfología del paisaje que habita en la mente de la artista.
El movimiento de su pincelada invita a encontrar indicios, detalles humanos que devuelvan el sentido ante la posibilidad más o menos remota de descifrar un mensaje oculto. La contemplación de esta serie nos retorna a nuestro pequeño lugar en el universo en medio del caos circundante, nos lleva a reconciliarnos con la duda, a cuestionar lo aparente y a defender lo incierto bajo la única certeza disponible: el momento presente.
La exposición fue llevada a cabo del 12 al 22 de octubre de 2017 en Roy Galeria, Palermo, Ciudad de Buenos Aires.

Maia Chozas uses painting, digital art, photography and collage as a means to compose a mystical nature that borders the limits of what is real to enter the realm of the imaginary.
The visual landscape that surrounds her in countless journeys and travels dictate the photographic parameters with which most of her works begin. There is something restless about the organic forms that incite her to portray them through photographs and pencil sketches, to re-work and intervene later through her digital footprint.
Mountain contours appear among color fields that, added through translucent layers, allow a glimpse to a work process in which time and distance operate, distorted by glitch and pastiche. In a search to apprehend the sublime forms, Maia seeks to generate a dialogue between the natural origin of the image and the projection of her imaginary on it.
The almost complete absence of the human figure in the compositions that integrate this series make insistent hybrid surroundings predominate, circulating among the magical and the esoteric. Juxtapositions of images provide new meaning to what seems visible and perceptible, making apparent the skin of the Earth, finding the intimate texture of minerals, trees, leaves and mountains. Color circles break the horizon like planets of distant galaxies. Profound canyons project their shadows among winding rivers, revealing the morphology of the landscape that inhabits in the mind of the artist.
The movement of her brushstroke invites to find clues, human details that recover the sense facing the possibility more or less remote of deciphering an occult message. The contemplation of this series returns us to our little place in the universe amid the surrounding chaos, reconciling with the doubt, questioning the apparent and defending the uncertain under the only available certainty: the present moment.
The show can be seen from October 12th to 22nd in Roy Galeria, Cabrera 5600, Palermo, Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
